I am a newly HVAC site supervisor. My client is asking for insulation on suction and liquid line of copper pipe separately but I have done single insulation on both the lines as they were very near to each other. Is it okay ?

Heat from the liquid line will be absorbed by the suction line if insulated together. Never seen a liquid line insulated. You want heat from liquid line to evaporate before reaching evaporator coil.

Not an AC tech.

As hkstroud said.. you do NOT want both lines next to each other wrapped and insulated together.. near is one thing... insulated together is a COMPLETELY separate and very bad thing.. Ask one of your qualified HVAC techs why and they will explain it to you.

I am not an HVAC professional, but I do have a license for automotive stuff, and have only done my own stuff. THough I have a 90+% accuracy rate on diagnosing large industrial Air Handlers to call the HVAC techs out we have the contract with to do the work But its very obvious to me and should be to anyone who is making a living at this. Learn about the basic refrigerant cycle in an A/C system (should take all of 10 minutes to get the basic idea) and then it will be really obvious.

If you are going to supervise someone doing this job...you really should know how to do this job yourself, or you won't understand when someone does something wrong or why its wrong.
