In Florida most car dealers are selling cars without disclosing to the customer that the car has a recall notice. Some are defective airbags. I’ve been told there is no current law compelling the car dealers to tell their customers. Question is if the customer writes down the VIN, do you think he could check it online before he buys the car

The buyer can check CarFax for any damage, recalls, or any repairs, including regular maintenance.

Write the VIN down, go to the manufacturer web site, click the recall tab, enter VIN, will tell you. I know for a fact Honda does it.

Check with Carfax.com: CARFAX™ - Vehicle History Reports and Used Car Listings (http://www.carfax.com)

You should try online car auctions like car-liquidation, auto-insurance-auctions, repokar , when you buy a car with them you get a vehicle report where you can find all the information. Good luck!
