I read that people reported the airbags did not deploy during an accident.

"and buy new one?" Go to your dealer and they will tell you if a recall has been issued. If so, they will replace them at no cost to you. Airbags may not deploy if, you are going under 10 MPH, hit on the side, if you don't have side airbags, or if you are hit in the rear. I doubt you have side airbags with a 16 YO vehicle.

Thank you for your reply. I googled about the airbags and landed on a site
Where people wrote in about their accidents. There lots of them and they
Were going at a regular speed, above 10 miles an hour. You're right. I
Have no side airbags but the passenger side looks like it has a cutout for an
Airbag.
The recall was on the switch. I followed up and they told me at the chevy
Place that I s hould not have any weights on my keys that goes into the
Ignition. So I asked them to change my switch which on my model was
Defective and they said with my VIN # I wasn't covered. Guess I need to
Smash up the car first??
