My bathtub is dripping water ( hot water) while it is closed and will not stop. Before we were able to close the tap with force and it would stop dripping. Now there is barely any water coming out when we turn the bath tub tap the full way around. How do we fix this?

I assume it is 2 handle tub faucet. Correct ?
You need to shut off water for whole house, remove hot water stem, replace washer and seat and reinstall the stem. Turn water back ON and problem is fixed
Not sure whether you can do it yourself. You will need some specific tools and basic knowledge of plumbing. I suggest you call local handyman and pay him for a service call visit. Shouldn't be that expensive as it is only 1/2 hour job
Hope that helps

Its actually just a one handle faucet, you turn the handle around, so it goes from hot to cold. Thank you for your help!

Now it depends what kind of single handle faucet you have. But in any case, if it is older type faucet (like Mixet) you will have to turn water OFF for whole house, remove trim, remove cartridge and replace washers and / or O-rings. If this faucet uses seat, you will probably want to replace the seat as well.
If it is newer type single handle faucet, I suggest you buy new cartridge. They are relatively inexpensive and are easy to install. That will solve the problem
If you post a photo of the faucet here, we will be able to tell you what brand of faucet it is
Hope that explains

Is there any brand marking on the round plate ?
This style is very popular. It could be Price Pfister, Delta or Moen.
However, replacing cartridge is very easy. Close water for the house, remove handle, remove nut under handle, remove chrome sleeve, unscrew nut on cartridge, remove cartridge, run down to the store with the old cartridge in hand to purchase new one ( exactly the same one / talk to the people in the store to help you ), reinstall the cartridge, trim - turn water back ON - and you are done
If it is old Delta faucet than it doesn't use cartridge, but a "ball" with set of cup washers and springs. You would have to buy the washers and springs to repair the leak. You can reuse the "ball"
Hope that helps
