Hi I'm 41 and my period is approx 11 days late. All hpt are negative so far. I have never been late in my life 26-28 days on the button. My breasts are tender especially at night and I've had cramping over the past 2 weeks. How long more should I wait before going to GP for blood test. Feel very stupid

If you have never been late in your life at 41... consider yourself one of very, very few that can make that claim. This might be the end of that streak.

As far as the tenderness and cramping.. those are all very common when your period is due or overdue.

I assume you are taking the HPT only right after you wake up, the first time you pee that day... and only read the results within the time window specified in the instructions.

Any deviation from that will usually result in a false negative... also before you are 14 days late... your likelihood of getting a false negative is significantly higher than for tests taken after 14 days when there is an actual pregnancy.

I'd wait at least a few more days and retest. Its possible you were just testing too early.

You can go, for blood test now, if you want.

It is too early for the home tests, for it, you need to wait at least 14 days,
And then use the first urine of the morning.

Many tests these days can test as early as the first day of a missed period, and be accurate. It's not too early to test.

However, at 41 it may be possible you are beginning to experience peri menopause. For now, treat yourself as if you are pregnant and see if you get your next period as expected.
