My furnace motor will not start, however if I give it a gentle turn by hand (via the fan), it starts right up and runs fine. Is the is capacitor or a switch problem in the motor?

Thanks...

Pull the motor and have it checked. The capacitor is a run capacitor and not a start capacitor. Now you could try a new capacitor but I do not believe that will be the cure.

I agree with hvac1000 replacing the capacitor probably won't help. Try moving the motor shaft sideways back and forth. If it feels sloppy or has any play in it, your bearing is bad and it's time for a new motor.
