I am replacing my garbage disposal and putting a new chord on the disposal. But the wires on the disposal are black and white and the wires on the new chord are ribbed and smooth? Which is the black on the new chord?

Smooth is hot, neutral is ribbed. Are you sure the CORD is rated high enough? At least 14 AWG? You must be a musician!!
