I'm fairly new to the iPhone (especially the 6s) but I've had my iPod for 6 to 7 years and is starting to go out on me. My question is it that I have no idea how to transfer my music... people say it can be done with iTunes which I've tried several times. I'm technology dependent so I'm asking for help

When you plug up your iPod to iTunes on your laptop, what exactly happens? It should become visible in the iTunes menu and either begin to sync automatically or show an option to sync.
