I got my nose pierced in August 2015 with my mom's and dad's consent. I've had a stud in ever since. I want to put in a hoop because I believe I would look better with a hoop and my mom is saying no and that they look ugly and trashy and she's only okay with the stud. I've worn fake nose hoops before even while out with her before I actually got my nose pierced and she never said anything negative then. What should I do? I don't understand what the difference is between wearing a fake one all the time and just putting it in the hole where it's actually supposed to go.

So, if you are a minor, and live at home, you do what your mother says,

Well... I agree... while you live at home it's their rules unfortunately. Maybe you can offer a negotiation such as I can do whatever (chores etc) if you let me try it for a week and if you don't like it... I will take it out. I have mine done but I'm 34 so no one tells me what to do but if my daughter wanted to get it done and I really didn't like the hoop idea the condition of the body jewelry would also form as part of the consent. I suppose all you can do is provide a reasonable explanation and if there was something extra you could do for them just so you could try it temporarily - remember that if they tell you to take it out or no then your under their roof and they are looking out for your best interests. PS your lucky they consented in the first place so don't push it. Let me know how it goes and I hope that this helped you to a nice happy medium with mom and dad... remember be a good kid and enjoy life there are bigger problems out there so don't sweat the small stuff.
