How do you write SI base units (kg m s^-2)? What do negative exponents mean? What do the mid high dots, spaces and slashes mean between each unit letter?

The carat symbol: ^ is used to signify "raised to the power of." Hence m^2 means meters squared, s^3 is seconds cubed, etc.

A negative exponent means divide by that unit raised to the indicated power. So s^-2 means "per second squared." It could also be written as /s^2, where / means "divided by."

Not sure what you mean by "mid high dots."
