Sorry my problem is not Car / Truck related.. It's Snowblower / Small Engine, I think I threw a Belt/Belts.. If I should be asking under another Thread Please Redirect Me.. If I'm Safe , I have a Paragraph or Two.. lol.. Cheers Thanks

Have a Cub Cadet Brand Snowblower.. Worked just fine yesterday , last time it was used previously to yesterday was a month ago.. This morning the plan was to finish up from a 51cm Snowfall.. Unit moves as it should Forward & Reverse , Press down on the Lever for the (2 in 1) Auger & Blower No Resistance... Using my Hand to press down on the cable leading to the lever , A/B attempts to engage it starts to smoke, auger not moving.. Like all SnowBlowers fan belt / belts will squeal when initially engaging.. This morning it did give a bit more Resistance than normal.. Side Note : We do clean out the SnowBlower after every use... It was +2'C this morning... Not fond of surprises , Thoughts & Ideas before we pull the covers.. Cheers Thanks..

You are on the right track, you need to pull the covers and see what is going on, I wish I had your problem. Mine is more on being able to push it forward or backwards just to move it. Gear problem. Belts, when they smoke, they are usually toast. Don't try to use a auto belt, get one for snow blowers my son tried to get away on the cheap and just as he tried to move it, up came the smoke.

You are on the right track, you need to pull the covers and see what is going on, I wish I had your problem. Mine is more on being able to push it forward or backwards just to move it. Gear problem. Belts, when they smoke, they are usually toast. Don't try to use a auto belt, get one for snow blowers my son tried to get away on the cheap and just as he tried to move it, up came the smoke.

Using a Screwdriver I poked & probed in every available spot I could access under the Blower Blade at the base of the shoot.. Managed to get about 1/2 Cup of Ice Chips.. Pulled Off the Cover to the Belts , the belt in question has a bit of play in it.. I'm sure if I tried hard enough I could slip it off the pulley? There is a Tensioner Pulley on this Belt.. The cable leading to the Lever on the Handle may be stretched a bit? Don't see anyway of adjust the cable? Poked & Probed on the Cable , the Auger started to respond as it should.. Gave Snowblower a trial run cleaning out the Mailbox.. Unit would go a couple feet then auger would stop then start again and be fine... Snowblower did this routine a couple times each side of the Mailbox.. lol...

On my unit there is an adjustment on both the drive and the auger. It is just about 5 inches below the handles you push down on to engage drive and auger. If you look closely there is a "nut" and a threaded rod. You will see a flat on the rod so that you can put a wrench on it. While holding the rod, place a wrench on the nut and loosen it then you can turn the rod a couple turns putting more tension on the cable. Be careful that you don't get carried away with tightening the cables too much. If you are not good at this you might want to get someone who is familiar with snow blowers to assist you.

Absoulutely.. My next door neighbor is more mechanically inclined.. lol.. It's all cable to the Lever on the Handle.. Will check though.. Thanks for the Comeback Anyway.. lol...

@catonsville... As I said it's all cable from the Main Body / Fan Belts Housing.. After twisting my Sherlock Holmes Hat on a little tighter.. lol.. The Adjustment is a Sliding Bracket / Pulley on each side of the Main Body leading to the Handle / Levers.. Discovered there was only One Bolt on each bracket holding them to the M/B , supposed to be 2 bolts on each.. Obviously whomever assembled this unit at the HD / Lowe's (?? ) Skimped on Bolts.. Anyway the Cable with issues , while the bolt was tight with resistance I could move it by hand.. Cheers Thanks

I am glad Sherlock was able to fix the problem. There are many different models out there and very few use the same everything. Good plowing. As a side note, on mine, I had a wheel gear go out. When I disassembled it, the main gear which had roller bearing inside had broken down and started grinding the bearing and rod. Bearings pins which should have been about 1/2 inch long were ground down to 1/16, 1/8 and various other dimensions. I Checked the Price of the HEX Rod and the price was $229.00 that did not include the gear with the bearings. Luckily, I found a complete Wheel Drive Kit with all the gears, wheel rod, hex rod and all the spacers and clips for $114 including shipping.
