I recently watched Les Misérables for the first time and I LOVE it. It is an amazing movie and I can't wait to see the show. So we went over to my mom's friend's house to watch the Superbowl and there is a girl about my age there and we hung out. So I was showing her my favorite clip from the movie and she joked and called the character Bilbo from The Hobbit. We laughed because he did kind of look like him. So we go down stairs and there are all the adults sitting there and watching football and they ask what we've been doing and my 'friend' said (insert my name here) was showing me pictures of Bilbo. Then my mother said "oh. Is that the boy you have a crush on?" I died. First of all , I hate boys, second of all, I wasn't even showing her those picture and I explained who he was and she just said "take a picture of her red face!!" That was so embarrassing... I think Im going to go die now... How do I get over her embarrassing me all the time?

First, you AREN'T going to DIE...

Second.. you simply just get over it. Trust me.. kids are far more embarrassing to adults than adults are to their kids.

We have a better grasp of what's important. Something as you mature... you will gradually learn as well, as has everyone.

There isn't anyone older than you that hasn't been your age....and we all know what its like to be your age and we also have the benefit of hindsight. Something you don't have much of yet.

Look back at kids 5 years younger than you....that's how you appear to kids 5 years older than you now....and in due time..you will come to understand this as well. It's all part of growing up.

Actually sounds like you liked him some?

But you just ignore it and get over it. Hell, I went to pick my boys up from school, with pigs in the back of the truck once, because they were being slogs at home, to prove a point to them.

She must have thought it was cute.

You laugh it off and don't make a big deal out of such comments. Why is it a big deal? Why are you embarrassed?

The show is TEN times better than the movie. Wait until you see the opening part. It's amazing.
