I have repeatedly sprayed with lime away and wd40. Arm still does not loosen. I am afraid to turn too hard. I don't want to break pipe in wall. I cant seem to get a good grip with pipe wrench. I cant afford to replace tiling on shower wall if I break something.

Any tips?

Are you planning on reusing the shower arm?

Will the shower move inside the wall. That is will it move in and out of the wall?

If so click on an image to copy and paste and give us an idea of your problem. https://www.bing.com/images/search?q=shower+arms&qpvt=shower+arms&qpvt=shower+arms&FORM=IQFRML

Does it have a plate behind it? Can you remove it if it does? Exactly what are you spraying WD40 on... a fittings?

Fish,
You can gain some mechanical advantage and prevent marring / scratching the arms finish by inserting a tool into the end where the shower head is attached - remove the head, gently screw on a brass or steel coupling ( 1/2" ips ) by hand, and insert the handle of your channel lock pliers 2 to 3 inches. Make sure to turn counter clockwise...
