I'm currently dating a 14 year old boy and I'm 17. We aren't having sex or anything and anyway I didn't realize he was only 14 at the time we started dating. I really care about him. Does that make me sick or a bad person?

The age difference and place of each life is way to different. You need to stop dating him.

There is a very big difference in maturity levels, emotional growth, etc between a 17 yr old girl and a 14 yr old boy. No matter how mature he may be, the difference is extremely wide. While I don't think you are a bad person, it does indicate that your maturity level is very low if you find him a viable partner.

You aren't a bad person for dating such a younger guy, but I do question your maturity and wisdom after you learned of his age. You cannot help having feelings for other, that's human, but you can help what you do about those feelings. So make a good decision on what YOU should do about this young guy based on FACTS and NOT just your feelings of attraction.

If you were both adults it wouldn't matter but you are a young adult almost legal woman, while he is a young kid barely past puberty.

Just another year and you could be in trouble, that you do not want.

You aren't "dating" a 14 year old.

If you are in the US, you have no rights until you turn 18. Bad and sick are not relevant.
So each adult or adults in charge of each of your lives determine who you can date. And you have to define date.
Google 'Romeo and Juliet laws' for your state. They vary.
They have to do with sex between minors, but read them anyway. Even if you aren't having sex, an angry, suspicious parent can have you charged you anyway. Not much innocent until proven guilty in this.
