Homelite cahin saw hard to pull , with plug out it pulls real easy

That sounds like there could be a partial closed valve problem, being open just enough to allow the compression to be released but not fast as if it is operating normally. With the plug out no valve problem, at least the piston is not ceased.
Need to wait for the Chain Saw Experts to come along to get an expert opinion and solution if there is an easy one?

Most chain saws are 2 cycle with no valves. Make sure the plug is right and not hitting the piston. There is no real reason it should be that hard with a 2 stroke unless you are spilling in lots of gas and raising the compression. Does it want to start?
