This is something I didn't experience with my first son, so this is new for me. Anyone know what it looks like to lose your mucous plug? I think I might have just lost it, but I don't know for sure.

Hey, I also never saw mine but my midwife told me it was yellowy and mucusy. It apparently doesn't smell and you could get a bit of yellow stuff for a while. I hope that sort of helped.

Early is a fallacy Lacey there is no such thing most people are actually condsidered full term after 36 weeks anything after that is just a bonus I can assure you a baby born anything after 32 weeks will be absolutely fine no matter of the size.
They can be as tiny as our daughter or up to 6lbs or more there really is no rule of thumb. You will also learn never to say the words bit early isn't it just wait till you get past 32 weeks and feel like a weeble.

Hey guys, thanks so much for the replys! Yea, I went to the bathroom last night I there was a big white/clear glob that didn't look like the normal discharge, and didn't look like anything wrong. So I am pretty sure that that is what it was.I started my 35th week yesterday, so I'm not too worried about it. My first son was a week overdue, so I hoped this one would be a bit earlier. It'll also help with the size issue, as my first son was 8lbs 21 1/2 inches, so this little guy will most likely just be around 6 or so lbs. I have had a feeling for the last month that it was going to be coming soon, as I have been having a lot stronger contractions lately, and I normally don't even feel them. (didnt feel any until 4-5 cent. With my first one, and didn't feel them when they gave me some breathamene to stop contractions this time around at 31 weeks) So I figure since I have been feeling them at all it was a good sign it was coming soon. I've also heard that once you lose your plug, it doesn't necisarily mean you will go into labor right away. You could go in right away, or up to two weeks later. So, it would be a bit nice if he waited until 37 weeks(just for my own piece of mind of his safety), but I won't object to anything earlier. ;0) Thanks again for all the replies, helped ease my mind, as I had no idea what to think. I will let you know when something starts to happen. ;0)

You will be fine here if they weigh over 5lb 5 oz at birth they don't keep them in anyway me on the other hand had 8 weeks in the special care unit lol oh the fun NOT.
Just remember that nothing is ever as bad as it seems lots of hugs xx

Yeah, there was mechonium staining my first son, and I didn't get to hold him or see him for 5 hours after he was born, and when I finally saw him he was in an incubator and had an IV in the belly button and some wires hooked up. He had to be on antibiotics for 2 days after he was born, and then I could finally take him out of the incubator longer then to feed him on the third day, fourth morning we got to go home. So that is something I would rather avoid this time around, it scared me so badly. Yep, you are right, no matter how bad you have it, someone else always has it worse. My only concern is that a friend told me that if they were born before 37 weeks here in our town, they had to fly you to phoenix because they didn't have the right equipment to treat them. I hope that isn't the case, and hopefully he won't need any special treatments in any case. I think my doctor kind of expected me to go in sooner too, because at my last appointment he checked the position of the head to make sure he was in the right position(almost as an after thought. He was about to leave then said "well, lets have you lay down again and see if I can figure out how he is laying"). That was last week. Oh well, all that can be done is to sit on my duff and wait now.;0) darn those waiting games

Buggage, the funny thing is the time you have to wait after losing your mucus plug is so different for every woman and every pregnancy, its weird. I lost my mucus plug with my son and went into labor the next day. With my daughter I lost it and she didn't come until 3 weeks later! My doctor said that all the mucus plug is, is the cervix beginning to thin and lengthen not necessarily dilate, and that's where the mucus comes from. It sounds like that is what you experienced though! Gross isn't it, ah the wonderful little things that happen to our bodies when we are pregnant! LOL, good luck and please let us know when the big day happens!

Exactly I lost mine in the morning and I gave birth that night the even funnier thing is I was being monitered by the hospital twice a day with traces and bp and yet that morning even with the trace results showing baby being as lively as hell no one picked up on it I did mention to the midwife about the mucas she just not to worry lol so hell who knows

I don't think they will ever be able to pinpoint exactly when a woman's body says "ok I've had enough kiddo, you gotta go!" hell if they could do that I would rather they take all the pain away first without sticking a needle in my back!! LOL

I have a son and a daugther and I tell you what, I would take 10 boys over another girl any day!! Little girls are sassy, whiny, argumentative and the list could go on! Don't get me wrong I love both my kids, but from a parents perspective, little boys seem to just go with the flow! LOL, either way you will be just fine buggage! Any names picked out?

HAHHAA U Got to LOVE BOYS! I love the fact that they are so tough. I don't know what I would do with a girl, they seem so much more delicate. Of course, if we raise them the same, I doubt they would be as delicate haha. I just know the boy route, so I am glad I am going down that road again. Yes, my epi didn't work with my first. I had back labor(which ended up breaking my tail bone) I was induced twice, because the first time didn't work. When I finally got my epi there was only one anethesiologist (sp) in the hospital and he was running between me and a surgery a few floors down, and so he just gave me some meds through my I've, and when he finally got a chance to give me the epi, I was like dilated to a 8 and was having contraction on top of contraction, and he had to put it in twice, because the first time it popped back out haha. So I ended up looking like a mummy with all the tape he had to put on my back to hold it in. anyway, all it did was numb the front of my stomach. Nothing else. My little boy was gracious enough to come out both shoulders at once too. Hah. They said I didn't rip and I didn't need an episiotomy either, so that was all a miracle right there. I feel like I have been dilating/effacing for the last several weeks. I am always incredibly sore down there when I roll out of bed every night. But I haven't been have exams yet(suppose to start that next week) so I don't really know.

Yes, Eli Walker is his name. ;0) and I grew up with three brothers. Had a sister, but she is the oldest(ten years older then me) so I am more comfortable with the whole boy thing.

Yeah but saying that my daughters a bloody fruit cake anyway the girl has no fear and sure knows what she wants can't think where she gets that from ;)
Her latest trick is to empty the kitchen drawers and climb in them like stairs to get to the work surface she is a nightmare that's for sure.
Have you got your hospital bag ready just in case anything crazy happens lol

My sisters and I have 10 boys among us (under 11 years old), and lets just say that everyday is something crazy. I think they have hurt ever thing imaginable and done just about every crazy thing under the sun. My sister (8 months pregnant at the time) once was walking down the street and noticed her 18 month old son on the roof with his dad (who didn't know that he had snuck up the ladder behind him) She didn't know whether to run or scream for fear that he would lose balance. My other nephew actually managed to get his foot stuck in the toilet. We had to physically break the toilet to get him out... Oh and then there's my son who likes to bring you poop pies... bird ppop, dog poop, it doesn't matter. He never understands my disgust.

Oh wow, that's disgusting hahha. But that's boys for you. I don't actually have my bag packed, or everything that I need yet! I am kind of panicked at the moment. I didn't think I would have to do that for one more week. So I am pretty unprepared. Hopefully he'll hold off for a little bit longer so I can get everything ready in time. I'm at that stage where I have to have everything in order, and ready and just in the right spot, and not having it done is making me a bit frantic. Hah. My brothers use to go get crawdads (we had five acres with two ponds) out of the field and put them in a bucket together and make bets on who would win, and pull the legs off grasshoppers and all that other stuff boys do.

Definitely having a lot of lower back cramps, but I have been having those for a while. Its frustrating, I don't know what to expect this time around. Since I was induced and gave birth to my son 6 hours later, it all came on fast and furious, and I don't know whether these discomforts are really more then just discomforts or not. I'm just babbling now. I need to start cleaning, or something... haha

Well, I am wondering if I should call and just see if there is anything I should avoid or be doing since I am 35 weeks, BUT I don't have a car right now, hubby has it at work... so I'm debating. I probably will end up just calling. As far as the nesting thing goes, this time around I have had it since I was 6 months hah, so unfortunately I don't know if I can use that as a sign. I got it the week before my due date with my first son, and cleaned like crazy, and he just refused to come out, nesting instinct or not haha.

Wow, I just ran across this thread. Guess I have been a little too busy studying the past few days. Oh, yeah, the day this happened I was in the State Mental Hospital for my psychiatric rotation.
Well, I hope things are going well for you. Sounds like you got some really good advice so far. There is nothing I can add other than maybe just support.
Oh, yeah, the whole boy girl thingy. Well I have 3 boys and one girl and I would do the girl thing all over again. She is wonderful. She helps around the house, cleans, cooks, takes care of the 5 year old and is an out and out gem. I guess I am just one of the lucky ones.
Well, Buggage hun, please keep us posted. I hope everything is going well for you.

Thank you CatherinenDaniel, and J9, I appreciate it! We're still hanging in there, hopefully he will come around 37 weeks, or at least 36. I'm kind of hoping that when I go in for my exam on wed. the doc will send me right over to the hospital because I am dilated so much hah, but that's just wishful thinking. I can wait for however long I need to for him to be healthy and strong when he's born... it would just be nice if it was soon haha. Definitely a lot more sore down there and having a lot of bhc's and back cramps. So we'll see. I'll update you guys when I have more info.

Went in for my appointment yesterday, but got sent back home because the doctor got called away on an emergency c-section. Went in today and he said that I am right, the baby's head is right there, I did drop down, but I am still pretty much closed and he said for now I am staying that way. I am pretty annoyed at this point. My biggest worry at the moment is that I am going to end up like last time. With my first son, his head was right there the whole time, and I didn't dilate past a 1 for an entire month, and had to be induced twice before he finally came. I'm at the point where I am not sure if I want to pull all my hair out in frustration, or just plain sit in a corner and cry HAHA. It's like when you are in high school and get " senioritis". I have "deliveryitis" I'm just going to end up sitting here, with his head pressing down giving pressure on my tailbone and pelvic floor, and end up having to be induced again. *sigh* so long as he's healthy right?I have to keep reminding myself that

Not yet! He's in the right position, he dropped down about a week and a half ago, and he's all ready to go. My problem is my own body! I'm not dilating yet. So if it were up to him, he'd be born already, but I'm the one that's not cooperating I'm afraid. (same thing that happened with my first son) SOOOO, we'll have to see. If I don't go into labor on my own by 38 weeks, my doctor will allow me to ask for an induction, which I think I might. My back has been killing me, its like walking around with a softball between your legs, and his head pushes down on my nerves all the time, not the most comfortable sensation. Hah. I will be 37 weeks tomarrow, so I've got a week to get things going. I'm going to do as much walking as possible, but when you don't have much energy, and it takes twice as much effort to walk anywhere, now that I waddle, its slow going hah.
