Can I safely shorten the cord on an AC/DC OUTDOOR power adaptor for a water pump used in an outside water feature. It is plugged into a regulation outdoor power point. The cord is approx 3-4 metres long and I need to shorten it to around 1 metre. Can I then place this cord in some conduit and put under pebbles in my garden.
Probably a simple question, but I am a woman living alone and not up on all things electrical! :( Thank you, Jan.

No problem, if you can safely do the shortening of the cable and keep it waterproof.

Is this 120 or 240? Where are you located-metres-? Must be sure to keep it dry. Might be safer to just wrap the cord, bury in a small depression and cover with pebbles, that way you don't have to worry about a splice getting wet.
