Been on because pills for years. Took antibiotics about 4 weeks ago. The following week had unprotected sex, so I got the morning after pill. Been spotting ever since I first took the antibiotics. Help!

The spotting can sometimes happen with a combination of certain birth control pills and antibiotics. Depending on which antibiotics being used, the effectiveness of the birth control pills may be reduced.

The use of the morning after pill may be a cause for the continued spotting.

Most likely your body will sort itself out with a little more time. Continue your birth control pills as normal, which can help regulate hormones again.

In the future, be sure to check with your doctor when having antibiotics to see if it is one that may diminish the effectiveness of your birth control pills, or even better, just use an additional form of birth control when on antibiotics for added insurance.

Of course, pregnancy is a possibility, although unlikely, but watch for possible indications to determine if a pregnancy test may be needed.
