Most birth control pills take at least a month before they're effective. If you've been having unprotected sex during the month when you just started taking these pills, pregnancy is possible. Then again, pregnancy is possible any time you have sex, even if you use 3 or more forms of birth control.
It could just be that your period is off because of the pill, but there's no way for us to know for sure.
Wait another week, then test again using first morning urine. If that test is negative wait for your next period. If you miss it then it's time to see your doctor. Maybe this isn't the right pill for you.
Good luck.

Have you had unprotected sex during this time? For the first month it is always recommended that you use a secondary form of birth control. It takes that month to get all the hormones levels where they need to be for the birth control effect to work. During that first month it is still possible to get pregnant. If your period doesn't come in 9 days, try another pregnancy test using your first morning urine. Continue to take your birth control pill. I would also abstain from sex unless you're using a condom.

If you have had the pills for a year, it's possible they are expired.

Agree with all the others, more information needed.
1. it is early to test, wait about 9 more days and test again, if you did not get a period.
2. are these year old pills, or new pills from the doctor, after not taking for one year?
3. It takes about one month for the pills to be effective, so if you had sex during this last month, with no other protection, pregnancy is possible.
4. no form of birth control is 100 percent, so even if taken properly, pregnancy is possible.
