I am installing a new temptrol s-96-1 and can not get the t-34 off. Any advice would help

The T-34 is a LIMIT STOP. Why are you trying to remove that? Or, are you trying to remove the T-31... the cap nut to access the TA-10 (stem assembly)? If you retrying to remove the cap nut then you simply need to use more force... maybe hold the valve body with a wrench and then use another wrench to loosen the cap nut. Let me know more, OK?

Confused: it is not T-34 , limit switch, that I want to remove. The flow control spindle, TA-10 is what I want out and it is held by the cap and the cap is what I can't get to move. Do I need to do any more thaan apply a lot of force?thanks

There should be a screw that holds the cap (handle/knob) on, and that has a snap on cover over it. Pry it off and remove that screw, and the cap (handle/knob) should SLIDE off the spindle.

A picture would help as I assume this is a Symmons(?).

OK, remove T33, T32 and then the handle (T31). Next, use the handle to open the T-10 spindle to about 1/2 way open...this is the trick to removing the spindle. Remove T19/20 (screws off) and then loosen and remove the T11 cap nut...as you loosen this continue to loosen the spindle with it or the T10 will bind up. This should allow you to remove the T-10 unit.

To reinstall the T-10 spindle, screw it into the T-11 cap but screw it only about 1/2 way into the cap...then install the spindle and cap but as you tighten the cap, continue to rotate the T-10 spindle so it remains loose and doesn't bind. Tighten the nut up well and then snug up the T-17 nut just a little and test the spindle using the handle to see how the spindle rotates..should be free and easy, but not loose.

PS: Yes, you need a lot of force to loosen the T-11 cap...can't hurt anything as long as the valve doesn't start to rotate!!
