Hi everyone

My husband & I are blind & live in an old house (built around 1935) that he inherited. It's a small shotgun house & we have slowly been having work done on it. My parents have been slowly working to replace windows and have broken a bunch of the siding tiles. :(. We have been looking all over & cannot seem to find a comparable option. Being on an extremely fixed income, we cannot afford new siding.

From what I understand, the tiles are asbestos (excuse my spelling). They are approximately 1 ft by 2 ft. We know our house isn't fancy but we don't want it to look worse or for the wood around the windows to go bad from rain.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Apparently the replacement shingles for asbestos siding is available at Home Depot. Suggest you contact local store.
Probably have to order. Should be able to order the number of shingles needed.

See this web site.

I would guess matching the colors will be an issue. Vinyl siding is really fairly inexpensive and you can do sections at a time, till it is all finished. (ok looks silly till finished but it is possible.

If you go to an "old fashion" lumber yard they will have the contacts for all kinds of siding. Bring a sample with you an they may be able to match it or come very close.
