Hi all! So about a week ago me and my boyfriend almost had sex. He went in and he said there might have been some leaking. We were careless and didn't use protection, we regretted it so much. But now we're both very worried I might be pregnant. This happened on a Sunday, I took the Morning-after-pill the following day (monday). My period was supposed to come till the following Friday or Saturday. It's been 8 days since I took the pill and my period still hasn't come. I'm honestly very scared I might be pregnant, what should I do? Is this normal? Does it usually take this long to come after taking the pill?

I will assume, you did not talk to the person at the drug store about the medication, and side effects. I will assume you did not even read the instructions and warnings that come with the medication. And I will even assume you did not do a Google or other search of the medication side effects.

The medication will often change, delay or cause you to miss the next cycle. (period) So missing this one is not unusual. BUT.. the morning after pill is not 100 percent effective, and it is less and less effective, the longer after sex, you wait, to take it.

So your missing the cycle, could be the pill, or it could be pregnancy. So not you need to wait, till next month and see if your cycle comes then.

You both really should have educated and prepared yourselves better BEFORE engaging in sex, and now you have to freak out, and wait and see what happens next. Yes you could be pregnant, or just affected by the morning after pill you took a day late. You won't really know for a while.

Waiting to see what happens after will drive you NUTS!! Will you learn, and do better?

Instead of freaking out though, be a good time to educate yourself, AND your boyfriend about the consequences of sex as fact is no form of birth control is 100% effective except abstinence.

Sex is no game it's a powerful urge as strong as eating maybe stronger when the hormone are raging, so you both better learn how to protect yourselves instead of just being scared.

Morning after pills are STRONG DRUGS. Of course they can mess with your entire chemistry for a while. They are not to be taken as birth control. Go get birth control.

Did it work? We can't know. There's human error and there's a small amount of failure rate of the drug.
I would GUESS that the ODDS are that you are not pregnant - this time.
