I have a Bell and Gossett Circulator on my water heater. It is causing my electric bill to be high. We have only lived in this house 2 months. What can we do?

Circulator - you mean hot water circulating pump ? Do you have gas or electric hot water heater ?

Seriously doubt that a hot water circulator pump is causing a high electric bill. They usually pull about the same current as a 100 watt light bulb.

@OP, How did you come to that conclusion?

Recirculation pumps are about 1/25 hp, use about .8 amps, that is 96 watts.

What is not figured, LOL, did I catch something you did not? Is the cost of heating the water that is being circulated. If they have an electric hot water heater, it is causing it to run a lot more. (or using more gas for a gas model)

There are several types of systems, one type runs 24 hours a day, another is on a timer and only runs on estimated times of usage, morning and evening hours. Others run based on a present water temp.
