I have an older (1998) 6.5 HP B&S Intec motor on a self propelled lawn mower which starts and runs well when cold. After running for a circuit or two around the lawn and stopping to empty the bag it will not start. Waiting for perhaps 30 minutes to an hour and it starts and runs well. I have replaced the primer bulb but what else is wrong?

Sounds like a "classic" ignition module problem caused by heat rising up into it when the engine is stopped.
