I am 22 year old. I got my periods on 31st may. I and my husband had unprotected sex on 6 th June. I noticed blood on panty after sex. I took a contraceptive pill within 5 hours. Is there any chances that I could get pregnant? Should I take pills everyday for a week or so? Please help me.
It's urgent

Did you take a regular contraceptive pill or those meant for emergency contraception? Regular birth control pills need to be taken on a regular schedule prior to sex to provide the most protection. Depending on the brand and type of pill, some can be used in emergencies, but you would need the proper dosage to have any possible benefit.

If it was emergency contraceptive pill, such as I pill, you would not take it everyday for a week. Emergency contraceptive pills work well when taken as directed, but no birth control is 100% effective.

If you plan to continue having sex, best to use a regular, consistent form of birth control to lessen the chance of an unplanned pregnancy.

Most likely you will not become pregnant from the recent sex, but you will have to wait until your next period is due to find out.

First, if this was a "morning after pill" there are several types, some require a second pill within so many hours, others do not.

Yes there is a chance of pregnancy, no form of birth control is 100 percent.

If this was a morning after pill, no, you do not take it for several days. They have serious side effects.

If this was just normal every day birth control pills, taking one after sex, will do nothing.

Since you are married, and do not want children at this time, why are you not on one or two forms of birth control, at least use condoms. I would have to assume you are having sex, a lot more than that. What do you do, all the other times you have sex ?

How is sex "unplanned" with a married couple. Married couples have sex all the time, in any culture that I am aware of. You need to start a planned birth control.

You only take one pill, it will either work, or not work, taking more than one, can have additional side effects .

The pill is best taken within 12 hours.

The sooner you will take more it will be effective It is 95% effective within 24 hours of unprotected sex, 85% between 25 – 48 hours and 58% if taken between 49 – 72 hours . But if your periods are delayed by more than a week, you should go in for a pregnancy test and contact your doctor.

So yes of course there is a chance of pregnancy,

I think you need to see a female doctor and get educated about birth control and the proper way to use it. You really do need to plan on learning about the ways of married women, or be barefoot and pregnant or sick from misuse of pills you know nothing about. That's no way to start a new marriage. Have not you and your husband not talked of how you want to live your life together? That's the first step in deciding when to have kids, and when NOT too, and what should be done about it.

Life is much easier when you learn how to plan ahead for those unplanned moments with life changing consequences. Didn't your mama tell you that?

For sure taking emergency contraceptive pills everyday is not the answer, and dangerous to your health.
