Keeps reverting to shop mode and disables the infrared remote and then keeps flicking up an down the AV and HDMI menu. I have tried resetting to home mode and the software is up to date. Does anyone know how to do a hard reset?

Thanks for the prompt and detailed answer. The 5 min unplug did not help, I tried it already earlier and mentioned it in "Already Tried" section. However I have found on the web the other solution that did the trick. One has to press and hold the "VOL -" button on the TV itself and the MENU button on the remote. Then TV became responsive to remote again, and I can navigate through the menu. I think from here I can find my way to reset to factory settings.
