I have been put on random ETG and drug monitoring for a possible 90 days because of a fight I got into. I do not use drugs but I will have an occasional beer. First, I am pretty upset that my anger classes put me on this, when I have not even been ordered monitored sobriety from the courts. My question is how many beers would you think, if any, would it probably be OK to be drink on a Friday after work and still be able to pass a possible test on a Monday. I am not trying to get wasted but maybe just have a drink with dinner or at the ballgame and on my birthday with friends. I am 6'3" and weigh 207lbs. Thanks for your answer. Just bummed out it doesn't seem fair, they just want my $ and was hoping to have an occasional beer on the 4th of July etc. That is my whole summer.

We will not advise on court ordered test avoidance, no matter the circumstances.

Go ahead and drink... the time in jail will do you good. After all your freedom apparently doesn't have much value to you if you even have to think about it.

Sorry, but yes it is fair. And you agreed to it.

It is kind of crazy, huh? I got in trouble because I can't control my drinking and suddenly, they wanted me to not smoke my medical marijuana which controls my seizures. True story. Fair? Nope. Unfortunately, people who cannot control one thing - drinking, drugs, anger... they tend to believe that such a person has deeper issues and that the alcohol, drugs, aggression are but symptoms.

In some cases, it is probably true. In others, it may not be appropriate. 90 days without drinking is a looong time... at least for this alcoholic. The rest of my life is a heckuva lot longer, but I digress.

If you really want to stay out of any additional trouble, though, your only safe bet is to do the 90 days without drinking, put it behind you and move on. All summer seems like a long time. It may not be fair, but dropping dirty, getting caught and making it longer would suck way more.

I an see the anger issues, of course the court "put you on it" they ordered the courses, and they are aware of the courses and requirements. Drinking would void the classes, which would void the probation.

So you have no drinks. Sorry, this is the way it works.

There is no "need" only desire for a beer, You can enjoy the same things with ice tea or a coke.

You weren't thinking about enjoying your birthday/beer/summer when you got in a fight, and ended up on probation so don't worry about it now.

Yeah, it's a bummer, but it's not like they came looking for you to take your money, and ruin your birthday/summer plans, so modify those plans to do what you agreed to do, to not be charged with a felony, and serve jail time.
