HELP! Pressure tank and well pump died. Had them replaced about 3 weeks ago with a little stronger pump and larger pressure tank - technician told us ours were both too small for demand. Water has been trying to clear for 3 weeks... very long and slow process with oodles and oodles of flushing the spin down filter at the water tank. We finally have cloudy water, rather than orange stuff. Thought we were heading in the right direction until the well pump circuit breaker tripped... a couple of times. *sigh* Looking for help in diagnosing the cause. Details: 400 foot well; have never had trouble with water pressure (i.e. we can run multiple showers and dishwasher without losing pressure), water is generally right up near the top of the well.

with a little stronger pump

Let us hope that your well guy made sure the pump would match the breaker. Assuming he did, you can try replacing the breaker if you feel competent to try it. Probably won't fix the problem but it might, and at least it's a fairly cheap thing to do. If we assume if only trips when the pump is on, then it would not likely be a damaged buried cable. So you are probably at the point where you: 1. Call the well tech to come back out and address the issue. 2. If he can't/won't, then call in an electrician. He can check and see how much amperage the pump is pulling and be sure that your wiring and breaker can handle it.

Yes, make sure the breaker is the right size for the new pump. If he put in a bigger pump more then like you need a bigger breaker.
