Just installed a new gas hot water heater. It kept me up all night with loud banging noise. My upstairs neighbor hears it as well and it disturbs her sleep. Why does this happen and how can it be corrected? Appreciate you help.

Please tell us the brand and the model number of your water heater, I have seen problems with the new whirlpool water heaters installation, it needs the gap between the igniter and the pilot to be adjusted, call the manufacture to schedule a technician to come and fix it for you covered by warranty, Thanks.

What kind of "banging" is it ? Coming from the water heater itself or from the pipes ?
