Is it normal for a period to be like a black to a dark red and gooey. And not really a lot on pad at all, rather light. But it's not when I wipe?

Black or dark usually means old blood. It's your body cleaning itself out. This normally happens at the end of your period, but can happen at other times as well.

Having said that, it can also indicate that something is wrong. From what you described I'd say it's unlikely, but no one on this site can diagnose.
