I am replacing the 200 amp main breaker in my panel. It is EQ9685. This LOOKS like I can trip the breaker and remove it without having the power company come out for a disconnect. Anybody know if I am correct?

Why would you do this live if you didn't need to?

The wire from the power company (coming into the panel) will still be "hot" or live. Merely turning off the breaker in the panel does not change that.

So unless you have another small panel before this larger panel, that you are going to turn off, the wires will be hot.

With that said, it is possible, (but not a good idea) to move it live, I doubt you will find any licensed service person that will do it.

The only reason I could think of, for doing it live, is that you are not going to get a permit for the electrical work, (which the utility company would want to see, and not having it done by a licensed service person.
