Hey all... I was just wondering if it's okay to have a hamster during pregnancy:confused: . I don't have one, but I would like to get one and I don't know if it's okay to have one or if it would cause any problems. I'm 8 weeks along and my husband would be cleaning the cage so that I don't have to deal with ammonia or feces. I already have two rabbits in the house and my OBGYN said they were okay as long as I didn't clean the cage, which I don't. If anyone could help it would be much appreciated.

Quick response would be great!

Thanks!

It shouldn't be a problem, considering you already have rabbits and your husnabd will be doing all the "dirty" work. The problem lies with cats and toxoplasmosis.

I'm feeling fine so far... haven't had any sickness or anything else. Just been extremely tired. I went and bought a hamster today... and all the stuff to go with him. I've been reading around about it and I'm a little worried about something called LCMV... but I'm going to call my OB tomorrow and see what she says about it. I probably should've done that before I bought him, but oh well. Anyway, thanks for your responses!

Hugs,
Kris

I googled it and came up with this site, but its always a good idea to see what you ob/gyn has to say about it. Good luck
