My goulds pressurized tank is engaging intermittenly, on and off, instead of staying engaged, when water is being called for.
What is causing this?

It may just be the way the system functions. Valves and circuits are operated automatically, according to system settings, and requirements, that may differ from what you are observing, or expecting. Few systems are engaged constantly. A better indication would be observing your pressure gauges to understand when, and why your system is engaged. Once the required pressure is reached they shut off. Once a preset low pressure is reached, they turn on. That's what the indicator lights are telling you about your system.

Are you experiencing any specific problems?

More likely the tank is waterlogged. Should be an air valve at the top. Depress the stem for a few seconds. If water comes out, then the tank is bad.

I would agree that watching the gauge is useful. If the tank is waterlogged, then you will notice the pressure swinging rapidly up and down every few seconds.

Might add that the tank is not engaging. It is the pump that is turning off/on.
