There is an abandoned house on a dead end road near where I live. The city has no record of it's address and I've only been able to find a address thought the eletric compony, there is no mail box and the numbers on the street don't match up.

Where can I find info about a house that doesn't exsist on the city's record?

When you say "the city", what part of the city did you check with? The tax assessor's office? Building and Zoning dept.

At least one dept. in the city will have survey or subdivision maps of the entire city. Find out which dept. has it, tell them the name of the street and you should be able to pinpoint the lot. Once you have the lot's tax designation (should be on the map) you can see the tax assessor and find out who the current owner is.

If the tax assessor is unable to give you any info, contact a title agency and give them the tax designation. They can run a title search on the lot to find out who the owner is.

I was thinking since the mailing address is for a different town could it of been missfiled?

I called the mailing city's assessor first and they said that street was in a different town, so I called that assessor and they had all but this house

Ok. Go to city hall and speak to someone in the assessor's office. Ask them if they have the city's maps, or where you can view them. It should be either the assessor's office or the building/zoning dept.

Start with that street and look for the lot. The map should show the tax info (usually in the form of a tax block number and then a tax lot number). Go back to the assessor and ask if they have info for that lot and block. If not then try a title agency.
