Assalamu-alaikum,

I want to know the reason behind the creation of other places outside earth. Scientists have found only earth is compatible for the living beings to live due to its atmosphere. So, why were the space, the planets etc. needed to be created when earth is enough? I think physics can theorize. But I want to know what religion has to say. Humans have very tiny knowledge comparing to Allah's knowledge. And I am not a good reader of the Quran or Hadith. Is there any sign which points to the reason of creating the space? Or, is there any sign which indicates that human will know the answer in future before the last day on earth? How big is the universe? Were is the end or start? And where is the whole creation stated? According to Islam, will we be able to know the answers? Is there any suggestion on this?

The universe is immense and expanding and there may be more than one universe. It is theorised that what we observe now began 14 billion years ago but realistically what we observe in the most part is history since the time it takes light to reach us means we are observing things that happened long ago, some of which may no longer exist. Planetary formation is a process which appears to be common throughout the universe but planets with the characteristics of Earth are very rare indeed. Planetary systems appear to have a finite life

This is what my religion tells me about the beginnings

1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

We are not given to know the process of creation other than he spoke things into being

3 And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light.

In the Book of Genesis, the Book of Beginnings, we are told God spoke nine times producing what we now see here and he did this for his own good pleasure, or if you will, because he could.

There is a vast difference between science and religion. Science seeks to explain the physical process of what has taken place whereas religion seeks to explain the reason but perhaps the most famous scientist we have produced had this to say. "I just want to know the thoughts of God, everything else is just the details" Albert Einstein

The fact is all this is on a need to know basis and we have been told what we need to know, not what we want to know. our focus must be on God and not on the details
