Do turbinado sugar or raw sugar have much nutritional value. I read that the only sugars that are worth eating are blackstrap molasses and date sugar. In your opinion, is that true?

Sugar is sugar when digested. All sucrose and starches break down to glucose.
No such thing as a sugar that is good for you - just any tiny value that might be in the rest of the sweet stuff. You get plenty in all the fruits and vegetables you eat.
Blackstrap molasses has some iron, which is handy if you are a vegan, and getting little iron in all else you eat.
Dates and raisins stick to your teeth and promote decay quickly.
So in summary, if you crave sugar, by all means spend extra money on something other than plain white cane sugar, if it makes you feel more healthy (not). Better to just cut out all separate sugars, or eat it in moderation.
I think the expense is silly myself.
When I bake cookies, for example, I cut the sugar called for by a third, and I might put a dot of a jam sweetened only with fruit juices on top.
But I'm not fooling myself about health value! Again - sugar is sugar.

Yes, sugar is sugar no matter what fancy name they put on it. The unrefined sugars are lovely to cook with. I fancy demarra sugar in my coffee though. Yes Joy is right.

I fancy the crystals at the bottom of the maple syrup bottle in my coffee, but that's a rare treat!

What about using honey? A long-ago dentist gave me and the rest of his patients a cookbooklet filled with dessert recipes that called for honey, not sugar.

Ounce for ounce, honey is now one of the most expensive foods because of the demise of millions of bees.
There is virtually no reason to buy a sugar for it's nutritive value. The goal should be to avoid all sugars, period.
(Disclaimer: I am addicted to any sweets, so it's a constant struggle.)
