View Full Version : Hair follicle test

I am a very occasional marijuana smoker. I am in the process of getting a new job. I last smoked on New Years Eve. Just a few bowl hits and a couple cookies (I don't think they were strong, but I was drinking too so, hard to say). Other than that, I don't think I have had anything in the last 90 days. I was scheduled to take a urine test, which I easily would have passed, but the lab marked my test as used without me actually taking said test. Now, company policy mandates a hair follicle test. What are my chances of passing? I have read that the hair test will only pick up frequent marijuana use, but I'm afraid that eating those cookies will screw me over. It's really ed up that I might lose this job over something that wouldn't even be detected in their standard drug test. Someone else could have done the same thing as me and be hired because they took a urine test. What are my chances here?

Whining about what's fair and unfair in your eyes will not help the situation. Chances are good that you will be ok if what you have told us is really true. If you only did it New Years and not anywhere else in 90 days, you're probably fine.

You don't have to be a jerk when answering my question. Why would I lie about this? To get an inaccurate answer? That's stupid. If I was a frequent user, I would know that I'm screwed. It's not like I'm going to complain to the company or the lab that I didn't get a fair chance with the urine test first. I'm not an idiot, but if I fail, it is something I may consider fighting, since I'm obviously not a habitual user. Thank you for easing my mind a little anyway. Hopefully it will be a non-issue.

Please explain. I consider you borderline without more info and if this is for a job I doubt you get a retest but you may get below the acceptable level of failure if you are not a binger, or habitual user.

LOL...I don't have to be a jerk? You're the one sitting there saying how unfair it is that you would need to do the hair test....maybe you could just take responsibility for what you have done and live and learn from it. But yeah, I'm a jerk.
