For the past couple years I've been dealing with high anxiety and go through phases where I am so nauseous that I vomit when I eat or feel extremely sick even after drinking water. I'm hungry and usually want to eat but can't. Days without eating causes me lose 20-30lbs within 1-2 months.

I went off my anti-depressant/anxiolytic about 2.5 months ago because I was having to take it on an empty stomach which caused vomiting. I'm also not pregnant, do not have a Helicobacter pylori infection or stomach ulcer and all blood work faithfully comes back normal.

I do have a family history of peptic ulcers and am taking a proton pump inhibitor, so acidity isn't the problem. I drink tea to help myself relax, as well as other at-home anti-anxiety methods. Nothing is working.

My family doctor is on holidays for another 3 weeks and I have an extremely important certification exam to study for (6 hour duration) before he returns. Any ideas of medication that a walk-in doctor could prescribe (they do not write prescriptions for narcotics so Xanax is out of the question) or other methods of decreasing very high anxiety levels?

I don't know what you expect-now.

When you went off your medication 2 1/2 months ago, and were having serious problems then- that would have been the time to get appropriate help from your Doctor, or more help, or more help from your Doctor more frequently.

Now you're under the gun with a major exam coming up, and it seems a clinic is your last resort.

For anyone here to suggest a medication that would help you, obtained from a clinic, would require diagnosis and treatment, none of which we are qualified to do.

'Very high anxiety levels' as you described, might be best addressed as an emergency, at your local hospital.

I had been living in another province where I could not get a family doctor and relied on walk-in clinics for everything. I had gone to emergency and they did give me Ativan, but only 10x1mg.

I have just moved to another province across the country (1 week ago) and had worked here in the summer so I got a family while out here, however, it is impossible to see him. I'm not just looking for a suggestion for medication but other methods of decreasing high anxiety as well.
