I am so frustrated with my 2 American Standard Cadet 3 toilets. I have replaced the flappers at least 3 times on each and it seems to be fine for a while then it will start leaking again (Got them from American Standard). It drains down to the point where the water turns on every 20 minutes (which is comical to me because I bought these toilets for efficiency). I have checked to make sure it is not leaking between the rubber seal at the bottom of the toilet, made sure that the overflow tube refill hose is positioned properly and tried adjusting the plastic piece at the bottom of the flapper(pretty much every setting and it still leaks). I checked the plastic gasket on the bottom of the flappers. I did find it strange that it is not completely flat. There are some little bumps in it and it almost appears like it was designed like that. Unfortunaely American Standard technical support is asking for proof of purchase to get replacements now and I have no idea where my receipts are (and let me say, this is the last time I will buy an American Standard product)!!
Does anyone now if those little lumps on the bottom of the gasket are normal?
Does anyone know what the setting should be on these flappers?
Does anyone know what else may be the problem? I wish they had rubber flappers
