I am 26 and want to try for a baby (hoping for twins), I absolutely hate needles.. I have a phobia (I don't care about he pain, it's the idea of a tiny metal gojng trough my skin, especially when is to take blood, o don't like the idea of it), and funny enouh that is my biggest worry about getting pregnant. I know, you are probably laughig at me, but I can't help it. I want to know, generally, do you have to do a lot of blood tests before and during pregnancy? And what are thy for? How important is each one?

I never had any blood tests when I was pregnant. The only needle I remember was in my arm to put me out for a c-section when I had my second baby.

You will have blood tests during pregnancy. We need to know your blood type as well as whether you are immune to certain diseases. If you are rH negative you may need to get an injection called rhoGAM if your doctor feels it is necessary for your first pregnancy. Later in pregnancy you will also need a blood test to determine if you have gestational diabetes.
Depending on how healthy your pregnancy is you may be able yo get away with just the tests above. However, if you have problems with your pregnancy you may have several times when needles may be used to keep you and baby(s) healthy.
