Hi all,
First of all, I apologise for the gargantuan post, but my washing machine has some strange symptoms and I want to give a clear explanation of what's going on...
I recently tried to fix my LG washing machine "OE error", basically meaning it can't drain it's water. I've removed and checked the drain hose and I've also checked other hoses inside the machine and removed 2 coins. Then I concluded the fault must be with the drain pump itself and so I replaced this. Since I did this, when I run the machine in "diagnostic mode", on the 10th test, I can make the washing machine drain it's water fine. This was a good sign at first because, I couldn't make the drain test work prior to the fix. However when you run the washing machine in normal mode to clean some clothes, once it arrives at the drain stage, it will in fact slowly FILL the barrel with water!
Q1)
My LG washer has a drain housing with two motors, one on either side (as you can see here: http://www.ukanfixit.co.uk/sites/default/files/imagecache/product_full/5859er1002f%20003.jpg).
I bought two small DRAIN pump motors and replaced the motors on both side of the drain pump housing. I then realised that both motors may not do the same thing - there was a circulation pump as well (or are drain and circulation pump motors interchangeable?). I made the mistake because the motors that were originally on the drain pump housing were identical.
Q2)
As I mentioned, I ran the diagnostics test. On test no.10 water absolutely storms out of the drain hose, and the barrel is emptied. So what could be causing the barrel to fill up with water when your actually cleaning some clothes and it comes to the draining stage? The machine fills up slowly during the drain stage, then after 10mins, once it realises the water is still there, it simply throws up an "OE" error, shrugs it's shoulders and just sits there.
Once again, sorry for the MASSIVE message. I really need to get to the bottom of this weird problem. Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks!
Please let me know if any further or detail or clarification is necessary.
Cheers!
