My 7 yr old daughter was tested positive for the flu on Monday. How long should I expect her to have a fever. It is now 103. When should I call or take her back to the doctor. She is gagging when I try to give her Tylenol and tamiflu, sometime even vomiting. She is drinking small amounts of liquids, but has also had some diarrhea. Any suggestions?

Somehow you have to get both a fever reducer in her (Tylenol in it's smallest pill form, maybe in a spoonful of yogurt or ice cream), and tons of weak warm liquids, like broth (not only because fever uses more water in your body, but diarrhea depletes it too). Your doctor really needs to know what her temp is AFTER taking the Tylenol by a good 30 minutes. If it takes a lot of patient sweet talking, so be it. She is old enough to understand how it will help her get better.
There is no cure for the flu, so warmth, rest, liquids, and Tylenol are it! It's only been a few days so expect a few more.

Try the meds in small amounts at a time until she has the full dose (you can try liquid form if you haven't already) and see if she is able to handle it easier. Having small frequent drinks of liquids can be better than trying to do too much, so that is fine. Encourage her to take some sips several times an hour. Hope she is feeling better soon!

Agreed, medication has to go into her, you will need to try some of the methods above, use liquid forms if possible
