ITIN stands for individual Tax Identification Number. It is issued by the IRS to use for tax filing for those persons who do NOT qualify for a Social Security Number.
ITINs issued in the last two years have a five-year shelf life. If you have lost the paperwork when your ITIN was issued, you can call the IRS at 1-800-908-9982 to get them to send you a replacement ITIN letter, provided your ITIN has not expired.
