Hello,

I really need the advice of an expert. I am from Bulgaria and in 2006 I transferred from one university to another. Can I deduct the flight ticket expense from my taxes? Moreover, in 2005 christmas, I went back home to renew my visa. Can I deduct from my taxes the expense of the visa fee and the international ticket fee, too?

At last, I know that I have the right to personal exemption to the amount of 3300. What else I can do to minimize my taxes? Which is the better form to you 1040NR-EZ or the regular 1040NR?

I would wholeheartedly appriciate an immediate professional advice!

Thank you so much!

.. and God Bless You!

I'm assuming that you are a student on an F1 visa and not an employee under H1B.

In that case, no you cannot deduct the airline ticket expenses.

You won't qualify for the standard deduction but you may itemize your deductions (deductions for charitable contributions, etc).
