I want to install a furnace in a house that never had a central system only electric baseboard. I want to know if I can get a drawing on how to run the ductwork. I have a working knowledge about how it's done as I am a residential contractor. I just don't know all of the technical part of it. Any help that you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

If you need a drawing... you really can't be all that good of a residential contractor. Seriously. You above all should know that there isn't a standard drawing that fits every situation.

Do you know how to do the mathmatical calculations to properly size all the ducts for the furnace you are installing. Did you know how to properly size the furnace for the structure? Bigger isn't better, neither is too small.

Sorry to be mean... but this is one of those topics that if you ask something like that... you really aren't qualified to be doing it for a number of very good reasons.

A lot more complicated than just a diagram. You need to size the plenum, ducts and returns based on BTU and CFM of the fan. If you Google "sizing HVAC ductwork", it will give you lots of hits on CFM, sizing etc.

Like most trades, duct work isn't as easy as it would appear. Here's a link to a program to calculate heat loss & gain in order to properly size the equipment. It also sizes the ducts. I've personally used it & was quite happy with the system. It's probably the best $49 (presuming it is your own house) you'll spend on the job.
