I am a 49 year old male with a graduate degree and for the last 4 years I have been getting chest pains and dizziness if I sleep more than 5 or 6 hours a night. I have had MRIs and other tests and they all came back normal. My question is could I have restricted arteries causing blood flow issues that become apparent at these times. Also heat helps alleviate the symptoms but does not take them completely away. The only thing that seems to work is heat combined with vigorous exercise. One reason I suspect I could have restricted arteries is because it is very common on both sides of my family.

Have you asked your doctor to test you for this? It could be genetic, but it could be something completely different.

Your doctor should order complete blood work on you including cholesterol counts. I have no idea why the vigorous exercise helps, unless it is moving clots around in your arteries, meaning your heart is working harder to move the blood, which is in itself, not a good thing.

This is just my opinion and not the site of AMHD, we do not normally diagnose as we don't know your history.
