I recently had a whole home humidifier installed on my furnace. I paid a lot to have it done but I wanted it to work without running heat. I want to get the "fan only" option to work. I have a pellet stove that heats my house very well. My HVAC guy was going to come back and install a relay switch I believe but I do not have the money to pay for that. After googling I realized that I can just add a 3rd wire to the "g" from my thermostat that has fan only option. Well I got it all hooked up but now not even my heat will turn on. The wiring is correct. I need to tell you this is something I know nothing about. I am a 53 year old female that is great at some things but not this. I thought the wiring was very simple even down to threading it into the basement successfully. My furnace is new 2009... If anyone can help that would be great. I read few other posts but couldn't understand the language. So I ask for layman's terms please.
I just want my furnace to work on fan only. Please advise.
Thanks
Christine

It would help if you describe the wiring at your thermostat - provide a mapping of what colored wires are hooked up to each of the terminals on the thermostat. Also, just to confirm: prior to installing the humidifier the "Fan" option on your thermostat did not work, correct?
