I came off birth control on the 1st of last month and started my cycle on the 8th. I had protected sex with a condom on the 21st. It is now the 11th of the next month and I still haven't had my cycle. I have been on birth control for 8 years. Is it normal to have an irregular period after being on bcp so long or should I be worried about being pregnant?

Any time a penis is inserted into a vagina pregnancy is a possibility. Doesn't matter if you are on BCP or use condoms. Pregnancy can happen.

With that said, it is not uncommon for a period to be off kilter for a few months after stopping hormonal birth control. Unfortunately you are now playing the waiting game.

You can test using first morning urine when your period is two weeks late. If that is negative, continue testing once a week. If you miss your period next month it would be wise to make a doctor's appointment.

There is always a chance when you have sex regardless of what birthcontrol being used. Birthcontrol just reduces the possibility of it occurring. That being said there is a good chance that your body is just recovering from the Hormonal Birth Control Pills. Before the pill did you have regular periods? If you don't get your period in another two weeks try a home pregnancy test. It is a waiting game because 3-5s isn't that late. Good Luck.
