Plumbing question: is it possible to convert an existing toilet floor drain so that a utility/slop sink could be used instead of the toilet? Thanks for any advice.

It's just a bigger hole in the floor! Looks something like this, a floor drain for a shower. Screw it to the toilet ring and then use PVC. Make sure you use a good seal of silicone and a trap.

To avoid installing a "S" trap you can install a AAV or run a vent up to the attic and revent back into a existing roof vent. Good luck, Tom

Exactly, a vent would need to be added for this to work correctly!
Good luck!
