We are giving our dog Benadryl for allergies but he s still really itchy. Now what?
What is he allergic to? Have you tried changing his diet? Mine is allergic to grains. I've changed him to a grain free diet and he is much better.
Could your our dog have fleas? Yeast?

Did your vet advise you to use Benadryl?
If so, I'd assume it is for seasonal allergies. If Benadryl isn't working, you need to talk to your vet about switching to more of a 'big gun'.

Benadryl, while safe for dogs, is not a cure, and doesn't help relieve all allergic reactions.
Did the vet prescribe this treatment? What tests were done by the vet to determine what's causing the itching? Were skin scrapings done?

Sometimes, like people, dogs respond to different types of antihistamine. My dog does not respond well to Benedryl. I have to give her Chloraphineramine. Wal-mart sells it. Give it a try. It's the same dosage as Benedryl. I also think my dog has environmental allergies, but finding out what may be the cause of the allergic response will help greatly in treating.
